The first batch of weapons provided to Ukraine based on the newly approved program between the United States and the European Kiev allies will include missiles for Patriot anti-air-aircraft systems and Himars missile systems, said President Volodimir Zelenski, quoted by Reuters.

Ukraine has so far obtained over $ 2 billion funding for the American weapons delivery mechanism through NATO entitled Prioritized Ukraine Requirements List. Zelenski expects everything to the funds received to reach 3.5 billion in October.

The first two installments, in the value of $ 500,000,000 each, “will certainly include” missiles for anti-aircraft defense, Zelenski said in a press conference in Kiev, along with the President of the European Parliament, Roberta Metsola.

Ukraine is dependent on long -range anti -aircraft systems provided by the West to lower Russian missiles. Kiev has regularly asked for ammunition for these systems.

Ukraine is preparing for the cold season, Kiev officials considering that Russia will intensify attacks on the energy system, already affected by destruction.

The first deliveries through Purl are already in progress, a high representative of NATO for Reuters said.

It is for the first time that the new mechanism is used, created by the US together with the Allies, which allows the supply of weapons from American stocks to Ukraine, using funds of NATO countries.
