Every week, the Krasnoyarsk Department of Architecture holds commission meetings to coordinate the urban design of apartment buildings, social and commercial buildings, as well as to assess the appearance of temporary structures; not all projects receive approval.

Thus, in April, out of 38 applications received, experts agreed on the appearance of 8 capital objects, but did not consider 16 due to an incomplete set of documents.

The commission also assessed the appearance of 81 temporary buildings, but only 29 received approval. The rest were given comments. The grounds for refusal, for example, were the use of corrugated sheets for covering the pavilion (photo 4), dents, external wiring or banner fabric (photo 5).

“This is not just April statistics, but a trend for several months. The reasons for refusal of approval are non-compliance with urban planning documentation and local regulations. But the lion's share of applications are not considered due to incorrectly completed documents and errors in project documentation. Therefore, we ask entrepreneurs to be attentive to the “paper” part of approving the external appearance of buildings,” said the city’s chief architect, Yulia Solovarova.
