The judge of rights and freedoms from the District Court 1 approved the request of the prosecutors of preventive arrest, for a period of 30 days, of Toto Dumitrescu, the son of former footballer Ilie Dumitrescu, to leave the place of a road accident.
The court's decision comes on the same day that the Prosecutor's Office attached to the District 1 Court triggered the criminal prosecution for the mentioned deed. Toto Dumitrescu (27 years old) left the accident site, according to prosecutors, although the other car involved had caused the accident, by not giving priority.
“From the administered probation it turned out that, on 14.09.2025, around 1:00 pm, while driving a motor vehicle on Mircea Eliade from Bucharest, sector 1, at the intersection with the spring Bd. The accident without the approval of the police or the prosecutor ”, says in a statement of the Public Ministry.
The prosecutors motivate the request for a preventive arrest by the fact that the son of Ilie Dumitrescu has been criminally convicted of violating the road legislation.
“The defendant is not in the first conflict with the criminal law, committing in the past an offense of driving a vehicle under the influence of psychoactive substances, for which the court ordered the postponement of the imprisonment of 8 months imprisonment,” says the quoted source.

According to Antena 3, Toto Dumitrescu was caught by the police after 48 hours after the accident, in a residential complex in Bucharest. After taking the biological samples, Sources from INML stated that in Dumitrescu's blood, traces of cocaine would have been found, in which case he risks a new conviction for driving under the influence of drugs.
