What purchases do Romanians not regret: the most useful everyday items. The air fryer is top notch

In a consumer society, where we buy a lot and often regret the purchases made, either because of the quality or because we don't use them enough, there are also simple objects that make everyday life easier. In a discussion on Reddit, Romanian users addressed this topic. What are the items they find most useful and don't regret spending money on them at all.

Appliances and accessories for the kitchen, first in preferences
The first examples of useful things that money has given are given by the author of the post himself:
“2m charger for the phone, it's top especially when I'm away with work or on vacation; A quality knife that you can sharpen yourself or even have them sharpen; Quality silicone pallets”.
At the end he states: “I don't know why I didn't have this stuff earlier in life, it's so good for anything.”
The examples in the answers mostly also revolve around the kitchen:
“Air fryer + baking papers / silicone for it; rotating support for spices, so I don't have to look through envelopes like a mystery box until I find what I need; rice cooker – it's ready in 30 minutes, without having to take care of it; Panini-type sandwich maker, I often make different wraps and it's very useful, much more efficient and uniform than if I heated them in a pan.”;
“The air fryer and the rice cooker give you back the most precious thing: time. And organizing spices takes unnecessary stress out of the kitchen.”;
“A citrus juicer: not necessarily more convenient to use or wash, but it also extracts the aromatic oils from the peel, so the lemon juice tastes even more like lemon juice.”;
“Silicone bowl (with silicone lid) for microwave popcorn”;
“A good non-stick pan – with its help, I didn't put much oil in the food”;
“For me, as a big coffee lover, the espresso machine. Why I didn't get mine earlier, I don't know. It is simply divine. That good morning coffee.”;
“Steamer – I don't kill myself after cooking, and with its help I quickly prepare healthy food (green beans / broccoli / peas / Mexican mix)”.
Someone else came up with a long list of appliances:
,,Air fryer with two drawers / Rice cooker / Electric grill / Food processor with large bowl for kneading dough / Vacuum cleaner with self-emptying bag / Food foil, aluminum and paper roll dispenser“
The vacuum cleaners, also at the top
Many also offered modern vacuum cleaners as an example:
“Wireless vacuum cleaner (with battery), bought last year for 1600 lei; for an apartment of 48 square meters, the battery is enough to suck everywhere exclusively in turbo mode”
“Hand vacuum cleaner: not every square meter of the house needs cleaning at the same time, so it makes no sense to get out the big vacuum cleaner because 'Saturday is cleaning day.' With the hand one, you vacuum where you need it, when you need it.“
The clothes dryer and the bidet were also often mentioned.
Others came up with examples from multiple product categories:
- radiator thermostat – which have a temperature setting and start the boiler by themselves
- vertical hangers – 5 per line – storage saver.
- filter of drinking water parallel to the sink jet.
“Laptop bedside table, with pillows. It's worth it if you can't get out of bed. I have a child and when she sleeps she immediately feels if I leave her side. So, on that table I can do anything. Book lamp for reading. Diary/daily journal. You take it out and immediately write what you need and close it afterwards. On the phone you open 10 applications and forget why you unlocked it.”
The gadgets that Romanians consider the most useful
There were no shortage of examples of gadgets either. The list is diverse:
“Long cord USB keyboard – at home I'm editing on the TV so I can sit far enough away to do it”
“Second phone. You can take pictures of anything, including the other phone, you can look at one phone while talking on the other phone if you need more documents.”
“Laptop with USB-C charging. My charger is breaking (something that happens to me a lot with my laptop)? I'm getting a (higher power) phone charger.”
“Rotating phone charger. I've broken dozens of chargers sitting with it charging and they always broke near the phone jack. It can rotate 180 degrees.”
Unique examples
There were also original examples, which not many would initially think of, but whose usefulness is easy to understand:
“Mpow earplugs from eMAG. 50 lei, 120 pieces – last you about 4 years. Bye bye, sleep anytime, anywhere, whether you have noisy neighbors or not.”;
“The electronic signature and Ghiseul.ro account. The electronic signature costs about 200 lei, the Ghiseul.ro account costs a trip to the town hall where you live. These two things save you from traveling by car, where you waste 3-4 hours and a few hundred lei”.
At the opposite pole. Most regretted purchases
I searched the internet lists and what are the things that many people regret giving the money and that they consider unnecessary. Some of these are:
- Home gym equipment (many actually end up using it as a hanger, not for its primary function)
- Many toys (often, children only play with a few)
- Improper clothes
- Expensive juicers
- Detox teas
- Cosmetics from celebrity brands
- Bread making machines
- Excessive interior decorations.
