ANAF President Adrian Nica said on Tuesday that the former President Klaus Iohannis was requested to surrender the building that does not belong to him and the amount he owes to the state from his rent.

The new president of ANAF, Adrian Nica, announced that the former head of state will return to the state half a house in the center of Sibiu, which the Iohannis family has rented to a bank. In addition to the space itself, Iohannis owes to the state and about one million euros collected from rent, according to sources quoted by Profit.ro.

“ANAF communicated to the respective persons (n.red: Iohannis spouses) the amount they owe and, at the same time, asked for the surrender of the building. In the next period, we will teach and we will publicly communicate the building,” said ANAF chief.

Nica says that there is already a deadline for teaching the building, without making it public, and if sap exceed that term, it can be reached forced execution.

Adrian Nica says that the Iohannis family, with whom he had direct communication, sent an answer to ANAF that he cannot make public, invoking the fiscal secret – the obligation of ANAF employees not to make public data.

About the amount Iohannis must return from the rents collected, the head of ANAF said that he hopes that the former head of state will pay all the debts, without reaching the court: “I am firmly convinced that it is of good faith and that the building will also be delivered and the amount will pay.”

The amount due by Iohannis will be made public only after the completion of the procedure for teaching the building, and if Iohannis will not pay his debts, “it will be executed as any Romanian,” added the ANAF president.

On August 15, ANAF sent the family to the former President Iohannis a notification informing him that he owes 4.7 million lei (929,000 euros) for rents collected in the past for half a commercial space in Sibiu, held in the past by the Iohannis family and recovered by the state, according to information obtained on sources of profit.ro.
