Almost 4 million people entered the trails of the Tatra National Park from the beginning of the year to early September, only in August over 1 million – TPN informed. Park director Szymon Ziobrowski assures that despite the record attendance, tourist traffic is controlled, and nature is constantly monitored.

The director of TPN Szymon Ziobrowski pointed out in an interview with PAP that such a large turnout shows unflagging interest in the Tatras, but – as he added – “at the same time he sets responsibility for the protection of nature.”

In his opinion, there are already significant regulations in the park – above all, navigating only on designated trails, which minimizes the impact of tourism on nature. – From March to November there is also a ban on wandering after dark, so as not to disturb the life of animals – he mentioned.

Ziobrowski pointed out that TPN constantly monitors the state of nature and if necessary reacts – e.g. by temporarily closing the routes due to the presence of bears or falcons. He also emphasized the role of tourist education and management. – We are not planning to introduce further restrictions yet. This is a final solution that can only be considered in the event of a clear deterioration of the state of nature – he added.

The director reminded that national parks are a common good and perform important social functions, and their availability brings many benefits, including improvement of health. He added that TPN implements the principle “do not worsen the state of nature”, and the presence of large predators – a bear, a wolf and a lynx – testifies to the good condition of the ecosystem.

The information provided by TPN indicates the growing popularity of e-tickets that allow you to bypass the queues at the entrance. By the end of August this year. took advantage of this form of purchase 811 thousand. 992 tourists. 228,000 benefited from a free entrance thanks to a large family card. 918 people.

Last year, from January to August, the Tatra Mountains were visited by 3 million 226 thousand. 195 tourists, and the whole 2024 ended with a result of 5 million 91 thousand.
