The Fitch agency has placed Santander Bank Polska on an observation list with a negative perspective – the agency said in a press release.

“Fitch Ratings placed the long-term rating of the Issuer's insolvency (IDR) and the evaluation of support from the shareholder (SSR) Santander Bank Polska (SBP) at the level, respectively 'A-' i 'A-' on the observation list with a negative perspective (Rating Watch Negative-RWN)”-wrote.
It was stated that the RWN list also included long -term SBP national rating at the AA+ (POL) level to be compatible with analogous to long -term IDR.
“This action takes place after the ERSTE Group Bank AG (Erste, A/Stable) announced that it has concluded an agreement with Banco Santander SA (a/stable) regarding the acquisition of a control package of 49 % of the SBP SBP.
“SBP is expected to be fully consolidated in the financial statements of the ERSTE Group. The transaction will probably be finalized in the fourth quarter of 2025, provided that the regulatory consents are obtained. The RWN will be settled after the transaction is completed, which may take more than six months” – added. (PAP Biznes)
