The Georgian authorities said on Friday that the two Ukrainians arrested the day before, having possession of strong military explosives, were recruited by Ukrainian secret services to introduce these substances in Russia, AFP reports.
According to Georgian security services, in the vehicle with which the two Ukrainians arrived from Turkey were discovered 2.4 kg of hexogen, a strong military explosive, also known as RDX.
“The driver (…) was taught the explosive substance on the Ukrainian territory by employees of special Ukrainian services (SBU),” Georgian services said in a statement.
The two suspects were to teach these explosives “to a certain person on the Georgian territory” to be transported to Russia, probably for a sabotage operation, according to this source, citing the testimonies of the suspects.
On the Georgian territory, the explosives were to be taken to a residential building in a neighborhood in the capital Tbilisi.
Ukraine, who is facing a Russian invasion of February 2022, is accused of committing several sabotage operations on the Russian territory. In June last year, she attacked several Russian aerodromes with hidden drones in trucks and illegally introduced in Russia. This complex operation has damaged or destroyed numerous Russian military aircraft.
