Elena Lasconi The USR candidate for the Presidency, asked Marcel Ciolacu to clarify the statements made by Dragoș Sprînceană, the prime minister's emissary, regarding the US, EU relationship and support for Ukraine, emphasizing that if the businessman statements represent the position of the Executive, his resignation is “a necessity”.
“His statement made live at Digi24, according to which the prime minister is not aligned with the interim president Ilie Bolojan and does not support the position of the European Union in support of Ukraine, is extremely serious and requires an immediate reaction. If this position reflects, indeed, the mandate sent by the prime minister, then we have to do with Romania. Public consultation and without a democratic mandate.
In the opinion of the candidate at the highest position in the state, Romania cannot afford ambiguities in foreign policy.
“We are not talking about a simple communication error, but about a possible deviation from the strategic direction of the Romanian state. In this context, I publicly ask Mr. Ciolacu if he discussed with the interim president Bolojan about this diplomatic mission or if he preferred to carry it out unilaterally, in contempt for the principles of institutional collaboration. The businessman Dragoș Sprînceană told Digi24 on Sunday evening that the Trump administration should ignore the pro-Ukraine statements from Bucharest, as long as Romania has an interim president.
Referring to the statements of support of Ukraine made by President Ilie Bolojan, the eyebrow said: “The American administration must ignore a bit of pro-Ukraine and pro-France because we have an interim president. We must wait for a stable president in Romania and then resume the ties.”
Asked to explain the critical comments he has recently made to the President of France, Dragoș eyebrow said: “I am not a fan of President Macron. Not being a fan of his, I think it does not represent the European Union. Mr. Macron wants to continue the war in Ukraine, and Romania is not for this direction. Okay. ”
“The US wants to stop the war in Ukraine and, as long as Romania wants the same thing, we are on the same wavelength,” added the eyebrow.
Regarding the details related to its quality as a representative of Romania, Dragoș eyebrow said that he was contacted by the office of Prime Minister Marcel Ciolacu to facilitate the communication of the Romanian authorities with the new Trump administration.
“No official mandate is issued, I was only asked to intermediate certain discussions, to open certain ways of communication. There is no written document, I have no directives from the Romanian Government,” said the Romanian-American businessman.
