Ciprian Ciucu: PSD does not want elections for the PMB “during this period, it is not clear to me” / what he says about a common candidate of coalition

The mayor of Sector 6 Ciprian Ciucu, said on Thursday that PSD claimed that he did not want elections for the Bucharest City Hall during this period. He also stated that he does not want a common candidate of the ruling coalition for the town hall, writes News.ro.

Ciprian Ciucu said that “PSD can come to apply, they can do electoral alliances including USR or PNL or an extremist party, if they want.”
“To organize choices does not mean that you isolate someone. You are just organizing choices. After that, discussions about the electoral strategies that someone else makes. It can say to make the choices, because it is normal. In a democracy, the predictability of the elections is essential. Therefore, the legislator came and said, in this time. Or an interim mayor for three and a half years, ”Ciucu added.
Asked if he pleads for a common candidacy of the PSD-PNL-USr governing coalition at the Capital City Hall, Ciprian Ciucu was categorical: “No”.
“This cleavage, coalition, power versus extremist, is a cleavage that does not have to be maintained. For this reason, it seems to me that it is a bad idea. It may be on the table in the end. But it is important to have choices, that is, it does not exclude such a variant,” he said.
Who will run for the Bucharest City Hall
The current mayor of Sector 4, the Social Democrat Daniel Băluță, would win the position of general mayor with 24%, while Cătălin Drulă (USR) would rank 2, with 20%, and Cristian Popescu Piedone (PUN) and Ciprian Ciucu (PNL) would take each 11%, according to an August 24.
At the end of July, the producer Realitatea Plus, Anca Alexandrescu, announced, on his Facebook page, that he wants to enter the race for the town hall.
Cristian Popescu Piedone, who was dismissed from the position of ANPC president, due to the corruption file instrumented by DNA, said in May that the parties that are recommended as pro -European should have a common candidate.
At the beginning of August, the PSD leaders also discussed the subject of the elections for the Capital City Hall, establishing that they will do a survey to appoint the party candidate.
For the position, Octavian Berceanu, Ana Ciceală, Dan Trifu, the vice-president of the Eco-Civica Foundation, and Dan Cristian Popescu, former deputy mayor of Sector 2, have been registered.
The exact date for the elections for the Capital City Hall is to be established by the ruling coalition. According to Cătălin Drulă, the poll could take place in November 2025.
