The final of the National Drift Championship, this weekend, on an urban circuit in Ploiești
The last stage of season 2025 of the National Drift Championship, which will decide the national champion this year, will take place at the end of the week on a specially arranged route, for the first time, right in the center of Ploiești.
Tires get smoke out at drift races
More than 50 pilots from six countries have registered at the fifth stage, organized on Saturday and Sunday by Rodrift in the Eroilor Square area. The organizers expect over 5,000 spectators, who will attend the spectacular Battles in the final.
It is for the first time that the municipality of Ploiești is in the calendar of the most spectacular disciplines in sports car, which has gathered tens of thousands of spectators at the previous four stages – two disputed on the Transilvania Motor Ring circuit and two in the Capital, at the Parliament Palace and around the National Arena.
The great favorite to win the title is the Ukrainian Roman Zelinsky, a 410 -point leader. The only one who can dethrone him is the champion, Gabi Imre Jr., on the second place with 356 points. We remind that the 1st place in a stage brings 100 points, and the first place in qualifications – 10 additional points.
Zelinsky pilots a 740 hp Toyota, while the young Brasov Imre Jr. will compete with a 700 hp BMW. “It's hard but not impossible”, Said Imre Jr., who last year, at only 17 years old, became the youngest national champion in the history of Romania.
The stage from Ploiești brings together pilots from Romania, Bulgaria, Norway, Moldova, Ukraine and Italy. Among the important names are the former absolute champions Ivan Ivanov, Claudiu Adam, Yordan Mladenov and Radu Moise, as well as top pilots such as Natalia Iocsak, Miklos Laszlo or Cătălin Trifan.
The presentation of the more than 50 pilots will take place on Friday evening, from 6:00 pm, in the Shopping City Ploiești parking, access being free. On Saturday, workouts and qualifications are scheduled, and on Sunday, from 3:00 pm, the battles will be held in the PRO and Semi Pro classes. The ticket price starts from 60 lei and can be purchased from the Rodrift.ro platform or directly from the access gates.
