Single Art Exhibition in London: Undex watercolors in public, exposed 150 years after Queen Maria's birth


Unique art exhibition in London
The Romanian Cultural Institute in London announces for the first time the organization of an exceptional exhibition dedicated to Queen Maria of Romania, in the anniversary year of the 150th anniversary of its birth.
Entitled “Marie of Romania, Queen artist“, The exhibition will be hosted between September 18 and October 12, 2025 at the prestigious The King's Foundation Garrison Chapel Gallery in Londona space offered with generosity of His Majesty Foundation King Charles III.
For the first time, the public in the UK will be able to admire some of the artistic creations of Queen Maria – The floral watercolors kept in the manuscripts of the Romanian Academy and now exposed in the form of high quality lithographs

Queen's work will enter into a unique visual dialogue with works from the collection Transylvania Florilegiumproject commissioned by King Charles IIIwhich presents 29 botanical works signed by invited artists.
They are added to them Two watercolors made by His Majesty, representing rural landscapes in Romania.

The exhibition is curated by Dr. Shona Kallestrupart history at University of St Andrewsprestigious academic institution where the visual creations of Queen Maria are studied and promoted. The historian and the researcher Sorin Mărgărit He is co-curator of the exhibition.
The program also includes a series of conferences and related events, held by international experts, who will bring to the fore the multiple dimensions of Queen Maria-artist, writer, diplomat and defining personality of Europe in the beginning of the 20th century.

The year 2025 marks the 150th anniversary of the birth of Queen Maria, the granddaughter of Queen Victoria and an essential historical figure for Romania and Europe.
Sovereign is mentioned for the decisive contribution to The international recognition of Greater Romania at the Paris Peace Conference in 1919, but also for his artistic and literary talent, which have assured him a distinct place in the European culture.
The exhibition “Marie of Romania, Queen artist“It is shaped to be a major anniversary project for Romanian cultural diplomacy and an event that will strengthen the historical and cultural links between Romania and the United Kingdom.
The exhibition is organized by ICR Londonpowered by University of St Andrewsin collaboration with Romanian Academy and The King's Foundation.
The project is realized by a partnership supported by Macromex, Impactum Group and the health network ”Queen Maria”, Through the project co-produces Upgrade 100 and Eidos Foundation.
The organizers are trying to find solutions to provide the exhibition and the public in Romania, at the end of this year.
