The head of the Executive, Ilie Bolojan, told the plenary of the Parliament, when assuming the responsibility on the package of fiscal measures, that Romania is marked by “privileges, waste and self”. The prime minister said that the proposed reforms “bring equity, cut self and restore justice.”
In his speech in the Parliament, the prime minister criticized how the state institutions work, accusing abuse and lack of responsibility.
“We have in many places privileges, special, exceptions, waste and sinecles. Everyone can handle it. In many places, some hire their relatives, others increase their allowances, others make false reports to collect more. And then, I ask you: this is Romania that we want?
“I will not sell illusions”
Bolojan stressed that the legislative package is not “perfect”, but it represents “the beginning of the state's reassessment on the correct basis”.
“This set of measures brings equity, eliminates waste and privileges, cuts self and brings respect for people and justice. (…) One thing I will not change: I will continue to tell people the truth, without cosmetizing reality, I will not sell illusions and empty hopes,” said the prime minister.
The head of the Government stated that, if the measures are implemented, Romania will be able, “to the middle of next year”, to find a course correction and enter a growing road.
“In a word, a more correct state with the Romanians. If we need to adjust some policies, we will do it. If we can ease the fiscal burden on people, without desecrating the economy again, we will do it. I think somewhere for the next year, if it goes ahead, we will find that we have succeeded.”

We pay the price of many years in which we, the political class, made us not see the budget realities. As long as I will have the support of my colleagues in the cabinet and you, as a Parliament, I will go before
