Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan told Digi24 on Tuesday that Horeca is the only sector in which “it may be a VAT growth” and that “there is no problem” to take such a measure, again, for the other sectors.

Asked if he excludes the possibility of appealing again to the VAT increase by the end of this year or the beginning of next year, the prime minister replied: “There was not put this problem.”

“The only thing that has been discussed since the installation of this Government, when it was made to increase two percentage points, from 19%to 21%, was the VAT situation for restaurants, for hotels, so the Horeca area, which remained at 11%, if it remains on this percentage or could grow – and I agreed that an analysis will be done in this year,” in October, in October. added Ilie Bolojan.

He said that “it may be a VAT growth, but only in the Horeca sector.”

“If VAT receipts in this sector see that they have evolved in a good way, VAT could be maintained (at the same level, no). If things did not go to a voluntary compliance, it may be a VAT growth, but only in the Horeca sector, and I am looking to be as correct as possible with Romanians,” the Liberal continued.

“I try to be as realistic and responsible as possible”

Asked if he would write that VAT would not grow in the other sectors by the end of the year, given the similar gesture that President Nicușor Dan had made during the spring campaign, the prime minister said: “I take care what I speak and try to be as realistic and responsible as possible.”

Ilie Bolojan said that it is a “difficult period” and estimated that “it will take a period of six months probably, until next summer, in which we have to work in these constraints”, in which the revenues of the state budget and the expenses must be increased.

“We grew up, to say certain, taxation levels, but now we have to collect them effectively, not through tax increases, but by better collection, and this package, which is proposed in Parliament, comes and closes some breaches through which we could run from taxes and taxes, but at the same time we must reduce our expenses,” added the prime minister.

Bolojan warned that “high deficits mean high financial costs, it means increasing indebtedness.
