Poland's relations with Russia. Diplomatic ping-pong
In addition to the embassy in Warsaw, the Russian Federation until recently had in Poland consulates in Poznań, Gdańsk and Kraków, while Poland – apart from the embassy in Moscow – diplomatic missions in Irkutsk, Königsberg and Petersburg.
In mid -July, the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs declared that from August 29 he was withdrawing her consent to the functioning of the Consulate General of the Republic of Poland in Königsberg, motivating this by the mirror action against the Polish decision to withdraw their consent to the functioning of the Russian consulate in Krakow. The Polish Ministry of Foreign Affairs decided that this decision was not right.
In May, the head of the Polish Ministry of Foreign Affairs Radosław Sikorski announced that he had decided to withdraw its consent to the action of Russia's consulate in Krakow. This decision was related to the evidence of the participation of Russian special services in arson in 2024 a shopping center in Warsaw, at ul. Marywilska 44. Hala Targowa burned down on May 12 last year. There were about 1.4 thousand shops and service outlets.
In January, the Consulate General of the Republic of Poland in St. Petersburg was closed after the withdrawal of Russia's consent to the activities of this institution. It was a response to the decision of the Polish Ministry of Foreign Affairs to close the Russian Consulate General in Poznań after finding cases associated with the Russian authorities sabotage in Poland.
