The “Moldova Mare” Party, led by the former anti -corruption prosecutor Victoria Furtuna, close to the oligarch Ilan Șor, will not be able to participate in the parliamentary poll of September 28. The request for registration of the candidates of the formation was rejected by the central electoral commission (CEC).

CEC found that the list of candidates does not comply with the gender criterion imposed by the legislation, after excluding a candidate. After eliminating it, the proportion between women and men reached about 70% at 30%, which made the entire non -compliant list, according to open.md

The excluded candidate had been convicted of domestic violence, according to the previous source.

The party president, Victoria Furtuna, announced that she will challenge the decision.

“There are tendentious actions of the central electoral commission to a patriotic party. I will challenge this decision in case a negative position will be taken,” storm said.

The decision was approved with the vote of six of the nine CEC members.

The CEC also rejected the list of the party “For humans, nature and animals” (Pona), motivating the non -observance of the gender quota and submitting an incomplete documentation, and registered the list of 57 candidates from the Political Party “Alliance of Moldovans”.

According to Radio Europe Free Moldova, at present, the number of electoral competitors officially registered by the CEC for the September 28 poll is 16. The election campaign is about to start on August 29.
