The American manufacturer Mounjaro, Eli Lilly, has announced the increase in retail price in Great Britain in connection with its adaptation to prices in force in other countries.
As the British newspaper explains, this is related to the policy of US President Donald Trump, who in July demanded that American pharmaceutical companies reduce prices for patients in the country and stop other countries from using cheap American drugs.
Currently, Mounjaro is the most popular drug among the British, administered in injections and supporting slimming. The cost of a monthly treatment without reimbursement is about 200 pounds, although this price may vary depending on the dose. From the beginning of September, the 5 mg dose price will increase from 92 to 180 pounds, and the maximum dose of 15 mg from 122 to 330 pounds.
After the announcement of Mounjaro prices, the British pharmacies recorded a drastic leap of sales of the Wegova preparation, also known as Ozmpic, which is produced by the Danish company Novo Nordisk to treat type 2 diabetes and is used by people who are impatient with this disease as a means of helping to lose weight.

As reported by the “Times”, in the first 24 hours under the announcement on Thursday, Mounjaro prices increased by Ozmpic sales increased by 400 percent, and after another 48 hours to 600 percent.
British doctors warn patients so that they do not arbitrarily decide to change medicines, as this may face serious health consequences.
