On Thursday afternoon, the embassy of the Russian Federation was given a protest note to the events that took place in Osiny on the night of 19 to 20 August, when the unmanned aircraft explosion occurred – said Foreign Ministry spokesman Paweł Wroński.

He added that in the protest note Poland indicates that Russia has violated the treaty on friendship and cooperation with 1992 and the Chicago Convention of 1944 and many customary rights.
– According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, this event is a conscious provocation on the part of the Russian Federation, an element of the hybrid war and another act highly unfriendly to the Republic of Poland, as well as to European countries – said Wroński.
The spokesperson also assured that Poland is condemning all kinds of actions that pose a threat to civilians. He emphasized that Poland is demanding that the Russian Federation explain this incident and the cessation of similar types of provocative actions. – In the opinion of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, this event undermines the credibility of the Russian Federation as a reliable participant in any peace process and as a participant in all activities in the international community – he noted.
He informed that the note was transferred to the Russian side in Warsaw, but it is also to be translated and transferred to Moscow.
When asked about the expected reaction of the Russian side, or rather the lack of it, Wroński pointed out that similar situations had already taken place. “Russia disregards such situations, claims that there is no evidence that this is their equipment,” he said.

He added that Poland informs its allies about such events, shows their course, which means that Europe is also beginning to realize that the war in Ukraine is not a marginal event, and the inhabitants of NATO countries are also threatened.
In the later published communiqué, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs emphasized that it recognized the event in Osiny as “another, conscious provocation, which is part of the pattern of hybrid activities undertaken by the Russian Federation against both Poland and other European countries.”
“We strongly condemn all actions of the Russian side that bring a threat to: civilians, infrastructure and air traffic safety,” said the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
“The Ministry of Foreign Affairs demands from the Russian side the immediate presentation of the incident explanations, in particular the circumstances and reasons for the appearance of an unmanned aircraft in Poland and information on the actions taken by properly by the Russian Federation bodies in order to prevent similar situations in the future. We call for immediate cessation of all hostile and provocative activities against Poland and reminds you The consequences of similar incidents are entirely on the Russian website, “we read in the communiqué.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs also points out that Russian activities unfriendly to Poland are taken in parallel to war aggression against Ukraine, which caused hundreds of thousands of victims and is a gross violation of international law and fundamental humanitarian principles.
The incident occurred at night from Tuesday to Wednesday. At dawn, it was reported that the unidentified object fell on the cornfield in Osiny in the poviat of Łukowski and exploded. As a result of the explosion, glass in three nearby houses was broken.
On Wednesday afternoon, the deputy prime minister, head of the Ministry of National Defense Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz reported that the object that exploded was a Russian drone. The head of the Ministry of National Defense also emphasized that the event is a provocation of the Russian Federation, which occurred at a special moment when discussions about peace in Ukraine are underway. The army is examined by the army and the prosecutor's office. (PAP)
