Several firearms were reported in the afternoon, near a mosque in Orebro, west of Stockholm, Reuters and Swedish public television SVT News.
The police alert was given at the local time 13.45. The shootings took place during the prayers at the Boglundsängen mosque, and at least two people were injured, the Sweden police said. It is not clear in what state it is.
There are numerous rescue and police units on the spot.
The area was isolated, and the public was urged to avoid traveling in the attack area.
In February, also in Orebro, ten people were deadly shot in a school, in what was described as the worst mass attack in Sweden's history.
