Ukrainian President Volodimir Zeleski confirmed on Wednesday that he had a discussion with US President Donald Trump, but also with several European leaders, about the visit of the US Special Submit Steve Witkoff, where he spoke for three hours with Russian President Vladimir Putin.
“Our common position with the partners is absolutely clear: the war must end. And it must be an honest end. The discussion also participated in the European leaders and I am grateful to everyone for support,” said Zelenski, according to Ukrainska Pravda and News.ro.
Previously, sources had told Reuters that Trump is talking to Zelenski on the phone about Witkoff's visit to Moscow. The two had talked on Tuesday, before Witkoff would reach Moscow.
On his Social Truth account, President Donald Trump announced on Wednesday that his emissary Steve Witkoff has obtained “important progress” at the meeting with Russian leader Vladimir Putin and said he was informed of some of the European allies of Washington about what he discussed in Moscow, without mentioning Zeleni.
“It is important that the Russians do not deceive us in details”
“It seems that Russia is now more willing to stop fire, the pressure on them works,” Zelenski wrote on Telegram after the discussion with Trump and European leaders.
“But the most important thing is that they (the Russians – no) do not deceive us in details, neither us nor the United States,” emphasized the Ukrainian president, announcing that during the conversation he proposed that in the near future representatives of Ukraine and partners, the advisers on security issues, to discuss “to establish our position, as our commune,” Zelenski.
Steve Witkoff, the special sending of the US President, had a Kremlin meeting with Russian leader Vladimir Putin, which lasted about three hours. The Kremlin said that during the “useful and constructive” discussion between Putin and Witkoff, “certain signals” were changed regarding the Russian-Ukrainian war.
