The Krasnoyarsk Railway opened a photo exhibition at the Abakan railway station to the anniversary of the legendary “Courage of Courage” Abakan-Taishet: it is dedicated to the 60th anniversary of the completion of its construction.
The construction of the “route of courage” Abakan -Taishet began in 1959 and was carried out by a shock pace: more than 35 thousand Komsomol members from all over the Soviet Union – railway workers, passers, Mostratskodovites, metroevtsy, engineers, installers, energy, military builders – laid the railway track in difficult conditions.
The line 650 km long became the final link in the Siberian Railway, connected Khakassia, the south of the Krasnoyarsk Territory and the Irkutsk region and connected the east and west of the country, becoming the Siberian “understudy” of the Trans-Siberian.
The road lay through the arrays of the Abakan ridge and East Sayan, an impenetrable taiga, steppes and mountain rivers. To stretch out the new railway path in Southern Siberia, the builders erected 725 engineering structures, including 9 tunnels with a total length of almost 10 km and several viaducts over the Sayan gorges. One of them is Kozinsky – laid over a gap of 65 m deep. Then it became the highest in the country. For the first time in the world history of railway construction, the unique “Touched track” was laid simultaneously with electrification.

A photo exhibition dedicated to one of the largest and most significant railway construction projects of the 20th century is a graphic story about labor valor, which was based on rare photographs of the time of the All -Union Komsomol construction of the Archives of the Museum of the History of Krasn.
All passengers and visitors to the station can familiarize themselves with the exposition. Free admission.
