The Minister of the Environment, Diana Buzoianu, told B1 TV that he asked the national administration “Romanian Waters” (ANAR) “to take all the necessary measures to find another headquarters”, claiming that for the current the institution pays about 54,000 euros per month.
Diana Buzoianu, who on the weekend said that she “crossed a bit” when she saw how much ANAR pays for rent, sent to the institution “an official address” on Monday.
“I sent today an official address to ANAR, in which I ask them to take all the necessary measures to find another headquarters (…). I asked them to tell us which is a new headquarters they can consider, taking into account the money they have,” she said.
The Minister of the Environment believes that the current situation can no longer continue.
“We can no longer go forward with tens of thousands of euros every month just to be able to have a headquarters in the middle of Bucharest, in the belly of the fair, these people, who certainly do a job that must be useful to us all, but at the same time they must be proportional and what money they have.”
Asked if this means that there will be no new extension of the rental contract, Buzoianu explained: “We must see exactly how quickly a new headquarters can be concluded. I do not exclude that it may take a month, two, maximum, but I do not realize what more would be needed.”
“They had put their eyes on a headquarters of 6,000 square meters”
The Minister of the Environment also spoke about ANAR attempts to purchase its own headquarters.
“They were still struggling to buy a headquarters. I understand that they had put their eyes on a headquarters of 6,000 square meters, that is, at 270 employees, a minigarsonary for each employee, but it does not work that way,” concluded Diana Buzoianu.
In a statement sent on Monday, ANAR states that it will pay 54,150 euros per month between July-September for the rent of the headquarters in which it operates, rented “based on a contract initially signed 13 years ago”. At the same time, ANAR claims that several procedures have been initiated in the last three years in the last three years, but the approach has not been completed “for objective reasons”.
