The former Democratic Deputy President of the US, Kamala Harris, said in an interview on Thursday that, at least for now, he has no intention to run for new public functions, as he believes that the American political system is “defective”, reports EFE, taken over by Agerpres.
The former democratic candidate for the US Presidency made these statements on the show “The Late Show”, hosted by the comedian Stephen Colbert, in her first television interview after defeating in the November elections in front of Republican Donald Trump.
“I have recently decided that, for now, I do not want to return to the system. I think this is defective ('Broken'),” Harris said, one day after announcing that, after several months of reflection, he will not finally run for the position of governor of California in 2026.
“I always thought that, no matter how fragile our democracy is, our systems are strong enough to defend our most fundamental principles. But now I think they are no longer. For now, I do not want to come back to this system,” she insisted.
The former vice -president gave the interview in the campaign to promote his book “107 days” (“107 days”), which will be published on September 23 and evoking the details of his failed presidential campaign.
She chose Stephen Colbert's show, the most watched during the evening, after the news appeared that the CBS post intended to eliminate this program from the program. The respective journalist, of liberal orientation and who in interviews asks the democrats comfortable questions, is also known for his critical humor to the Republican Donald Trump.
The most popular US TV show in the US has been canceled: “It is a pure financial decision” / there remains a question mark: “America deserves to know”
Stephen Colbert has publicly criticized a financial agreement between Media Paramount, the CBS owner, and President Trump, who put an end to a legal dispute on an interview with Harris during the election campaign.
According to the Republican President, the interview then taken by CBS News to his democratic counter -candidate was manipulated by substantial editing to give a favorable image to Kamale Harris, when it dropped in polls. After the elections, Trump sued the CBS position, and the dispute seems to have finally extinguished by amicable compensation to the Republican President by Paramount.
Trump has denied any influence in the decision to eliminate Colbert's show, while the CBS position attributes this decision to strictly financial reasons.
Kamala Harris, the first woman who held the position of Vice-President of the US (2021-2025), assumed the democratic presidential candidacy in the middle of the election campaign, instead of the president in office Joe Biden, now 82 years old, who withdrew from the race after his cognitive decline.
Proposed candidate by Biden himself, without a real competition in the Democratic Party, Kamala Harris categorically lost the poll in front of Trump in November, and in the coming months he had no public appearances.
