The government wants to establish another position of deputy secretary general in the structure of the General Secretariat of the Government (SGG), a key structure that deals with the approval of the projects passing through the Government or the budgets. The change comes after “a month ago it was decided to have the PSD to have the Secretary General, and PNL, USR and UDMR have deputy general secretaries in the SGG, but the measure has been postponed,” sources from HotNews.ro said.

A draft decision on Thursday on the Government's agenda stipulates that changes in the SGG structure in the sense of abolishing a state secretary and setting up the position of Deputy Secretary General of the Government.

Currently, the General Secretariat of the Government is led by a Secretary General (Radu Oprea – PSD) and has 2 positions of deputy secretary general, occupied by Adrian Țuțuianu (PSD) and Cristina Traila (PNL).

In addition, there are two positions of state secretaries, of which is only one occupied, in the person of Alexandru Vasilescu (in a PSD allocated position).

How will the structure change

In order to respect the understanding in the coalition, political sources from the Social Democrats camp say for HotNews.ro, PSD will remain with the position of Secretary General, occupied by Radu Oprea, but Adrian Țuțuianu will have to leave the position of deputy secretary general.

He will take over the only position of Secretary of State occupied in the SGG, respectively will be appointed instead of Alexandru Vasilescu, sources from the Social Democrats camp say.

USR and UDMR would name people for the other two positions of deputy general secretaries.

Therefore, according to the changes, the structure of the General Secretariat of the Government will be as follows:

  • Secretary General of the Government – PSD, Radu Oprea
  • Deputy Secretary General – PNL, Cristina Traila
  • Deputy Secretary General – USR, a appointment is to be made
  • Deputy Secretary General – UDMR, a appointment is to be made
  • Secretary of State – PSD, Adrian Tuțuianu

Changes will not increase the number of dignitaries, says the government

The General Secretariat of the Government is part of the Government's work apparatus and ensures the development and continuity of the technical operations related to the governing acts, the solving of the organizational, legal, economic and technical problems of the Government's activity, as well as the representation of the Government before the courts.

At the same time, the abolition of a position related to the function of public dignity is also provided for by the Secretary of State within the General Secretariat of the Government.
