Campi Flegrei Superwuwkanie in Italy – an expert with a possible cataclysis

– The south of Europe is primarily threatened with earthquakes and volcano explosions. Etna, Vesuvius, Fleger fields (Campi Flegrei – ed.) it is a huge supervulcan. If a supervoluncanist could be activated in Italy, he could lead to a terrible disaster – warned the expert.
He added that an explosion within several dozen kilometers is able to destroy all life.
Superwallcan more dangerous than tsunami
According to the latest research, the likelihood of the occurrence of meter waves tsunami in coastal cities such as Marseille or Istanbul, in the next 30 years it is almost 100 percent. Prof. Dębski explained, however, that such small waves are unlikely to pose a catastrophic threat. “The meter wave of Tsunami may pour ports, but you should not expect a cataclysm,” he said.
The expert reminded, however, that history knows cases of much larger waves. “The largest wave that you know took place in Alaska, where part of the mountain saved to the bay, causing tsunami with a height of 500 meters,” he said. He added that even waves with a height of 10-12 meters, which may pour in land, are able to destroy the entire infrastructure in a large area.
Superwulkan in Italy. Expert: Poland relatively safe
When asked about the situation in Poland, prof. Dębski reassured that our country is in a very stable seismically part of the world. “In Poland, we have small earthquakes, partly natural, and partly caused by mining activities. We lie in a very quiet part of the world without a doubt” – he emphasized.
The expert noticed that the only serious natural threat that can affect Poland are floods. “Air trumpets are rare and relatively weak with us. We don't have volcanoes, which makes our country a very calm area of life,” he added.
While Poland can enjoy relative security, Southern Europe must prepare for potential threats associated with seismic and volcanic activity. As emphasized by prof. Dębski, a possible eruption of the Superwallcan in Italy could have catastrophic effects, not only for the region, but also for the entire continent.
