In the United States, the elk has been blocking a popular tourist route for two months

The trail on Mount Goodman in the forest of Horshu-Lake-Uyld is temporarily closed from June 6 due to the strange behavior of the animal. According to the Department of Environmental Protection, the elk is constantly on the path or next to it, not far from the top, sometimes sitting, and sometimes feeding on a small area.

Department expert Dave Kramer said this is very unusual behavior. Usually, at this time of year, moose descend to lower areas, where they mainly feed on vegetation by water. Kramer evaluates the growth of moose at the withers about 1.8 meters and a weight of at least 408 kg. Judging by the scope of the horns, he is probably about four years old.

It remains a mystery why the elk does not leave. The department suspect a hidden disease affecting behavior. Until the animal showed signs of aggression. However, the tcristic path remains closed, partly due to fears that this large animal can be dangerous for people if it is too close to it.

The animals are monitored using three surveillance cameras, and the reserve employees regularly rise to the mountain.
