A tragic incident occurred in Mykolaiv when a drunk driver collided with another vehicle that was stopped at a traffic light, resulting in the deaths of a woman and her 17-year-old daughter. The teenager had celebrated her graduation just a day prior. The driver, operating an Audi, was found to have a blood alcohol concentration of 2.51 promille, which is over twelve times the legal limit. Reports indicate that the 31-year-old driver had previously been exchanged from Russian captivity in December 2022. Following the crash, he was taken into custody without the possibility of bail and faces a potential sentence of up to 12 years in prison.
