We cook on tap water: why does it affect the taste of food and how to protect yourself

We all know that drinking water from under the tap of the idea is dubious. But a logical question arises, is it possible to use it for cooking. This was reported by “Belnovosti” (18+).

Opinions were divided on this subject. Some are categorically against and claim that such water is potentially dangerous. Others believe that if you do not drink it raw, then nothing terrible will happen.

According to experts, filtered or bottled water is an ideal option. It is it that is considered the most safe in terms of the content of harmful substances and extraneous impurities. However, not everyone has the opportunity to constantly use such water in everyday life.

In this case, the use of conventional tap water is allowed. But with an important reservation. Before you cook soup, porridge or pasta, water must be boiled. Boiling allows you to neutralize a significant part of impurities and microorganisms, making water more suitable for consumption in prepared dishes.

However, even boiled water from the tap is not suitable for everything. Experts do not recommend using it to brew tea and coffee, where the taste and aroma especially depend on the quality of the liquid. And even more so do not drink it without preliminary processing.

The quality of water water depends on many factors – rigidity, level of iron and chlorine, the presence of scale. The increased content of chlorine and iron not only harms health, but also spoils the taste of food. This is especially felt if the water enters the old, rusty pipes: dishes acquire an unpleasant metal taste.

To reduce risks, experts advise installing running or at least jug filters. This will not only improve the taste and smell of water, but also make it safer for daily use.
