The National Anticorruption Directorate (DNA) claims that it is not involved in the disclosure in the public space of the stenograms with the quarrel between Cristian Popescu Piedone and his wife.
“Regarding the disclosure in the public space of the conversation between the defendant and a member of his family, we firmly reject the institutional involvement in the publicization of the interceptions included in the judicial control ordinance,” said DNA, in a press release.
The DNA reaction comes after several news sites have published stenograms in the DNA file, which accuses Piedone of corruption, with a quarrel between him and his wife.

What DNA says after the emergence of stenograms
Piedone, who was dismissed from the head of ANPC, was placed on Tuesday by the DNA under judicial control. He is accused of preventing the representative of the international hotel in Sinaia that his subordinates are to carry out a control at his company.
“In the case publicized by the statement no. 422/VIII/3/22, 2025, the anti -corruption prosecutors ordered, among other things, to take the measure of judicial control against the data subject. The ordinance for the disposition of the judicial control was communicated on July 22, 2025, according to the legal provisions, exclusively to the defendant, to the law, Alin 5 Criminal Procedure Code.
We specify that, at the time of disposition of the preventive measure of judicial control, the prosecutor makes a motivated analysis that requires the inclusion of factual elements that serve to support the reasonable suspicions regarding the commission of an offense and justifies the disposition of the measure ”, the DNA said on Thursday.
The DNA emphasizes that it carries out its activity “with strict compliance with the legal framework” and rejects the involvement in disclosing the stenograms.
“In the current case, the means of evidence analyzed by the prosecutor have included, among other things, intercepted communications between the defendant and third parties, without procedural quality. The judge of rights and freedoms makes the analysis of the legal provisions that regulate the taking of the judicial control.
Regarding the disclosure in the public space of the conversation between the defendant and a member of his family, we firmly reject the institutional involvement in the publicization of the interceptions included in the judicial control ordinance. The disclosure of this information is unjustified and contrary to the right to privacy. The National Anticorruption Directorate reiterates the fact that it operates with its strict compliance with the legal framework and all criminal procedural guarantees provided in the Constitution and Laws ”, the DNA said.
