The construction of the floating LNG terminal has started. Gas will flow in 2028

On Tuesday, at the Hyundai Shipyard in South Korea, the construction of the FSRU unit, i.e. floating gas terminal, which will work in the Gdańsk Gulf – said Gaz -System Vice President Adam Bryszewski. He added that the first gas from the terminal is to flow in 2028.


Adam Bryszewski's Vice President-System donated during the Sejm Maritime Economy Committee and Inland Navigation that on Tuesday the production began at the Hyundai Korean Shipyard, FSRU (Floating Storage Regasification Unit) contracted by the Japanese MOL (Mitsi Osk Lines) unit. This unit will work in the Gulf of Gdańsk.
Bryszewski explained that it was about starting the first phase – the construction of the ship's structure. He added that the whole process will last about 1.5 years. The unit's charter contract was signed with White Eagle Energy Ltd., from the Mitsiu OSK Lines group April 2024.
– It is planned to start construction works in the offshor part and construction works on a breakwater for the next few days – Bryszewski also said. He pointed out that the transfer of the terminal for operation is scheduled for the turn of 2027/2028and the first gas from it will flow in 2028 – the cost of the entire investment, not counting the fees for the ship charter is PLN 4.5 billion. Soon start work in Poland
According to information provided by the company's representatives, the commencement of deepening works for ship positions is planned in the third quarter of this year. These are the coming weeks – specified Bryszewski.

He said that at the end of next year it is planned to end all three parts of the line gas pipelines to distribute gas from the FSRU terminal around the country.

A maritime project with the wind in the sails for now

The entire FSRU project provides for the construction of a breakwater at the expense of the Maritime Office in Gdańsk and Wydrzeża, a submarine gas pipeline, as well as the Gdańsk-Kolnik-Gardeja-Gardeja-Gardeja Land Pipeline. The waterfront for the floating terminal will be built east of the port of Gdańsk – 3 km from Brzeg. It will allow anchoring two such units.
In April 2024, Gaz-System signed the FSRU charter agreement with White Eagle Energy Ltd.
In November 2024, the company signed contracts for the construction of three land gas pipelines: Kolnik – Gdańsk, Gardeja – Kolnik and Gustorzyn – Gardeja, with a total length of 250 km. The new transmission infrastructure is to enable the reception of liquefied natural gas (LNG) supplied by sea, and then after its regasification to the national transmission system in order to deliver to recipients.
At the beginning of December 2024, the Pomeranian Voivode Beata Rutkiewicz on the office's website published a decision in which she approved the land use project and the architectural and construction design of the FSRU terminal and granted Gaz-System permission to build it.
