In Krasnoyarsk, oncologists of the FSNCs of the FMBA of Russia conducted a complex operation to remove a malignant tumor in the abdominal cavity of a 78-year-old woman. Such an intervention was carried out laparoscopically for the first time in the region.

The operation lasted about 5 hours. Surgeons needed to make several punctures of the abdominal wall, and then cut off the right lobe of the liver from the vessels – almost 50% of the organ – along with the tumor. Remote fabrics were removed from the abdominal cavity through a small incision in the inguinal region. They were sent for histological examination.

“This operation belongs to the category complex. The liver is an organ with unique blood supply. Very large venous vessels go to it, that is, the entire venous blood of the abdominal organs, there is also good arterial blood supply. And the liver is an organ that lies on such a large vessel as the lower hollow vein, which carries blood directly to the heart. When cutting off large trunk vessels, if, for example, some kind of emergency occurs, we can encounter bleeding, and this is one of the determining the complexity of such an operation, ”Ruslan Chlobystin, an oncologist of the FSCTS FSMI FMBA of Russia.

The patient herself said that doctors from Zheleznogorsk were advised in Krasnoyarsk. After the operation, she stayed in the FSNCC of the FMBA of Russia only 5 days. Having received good test results and taking a photo with her attending physician, the patient went home to Zheleznogorsk, to children and grandchildren.
