The presidential adviser for national security Cristian Diaconescu stated, in Digi24, that the relationship between President Nicușor Dan and Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan is a “very good” one, the relationship between the occupants of the two functions being an aspect that is related to the “Security of Romania”.
Invited to comment on the speculation related to the worsening of the relationships between Nicușor Dan and Ilie Bolojan, Cristian Diaconescu replied: “At this moment I see a very responsible relationship in which the two convey the same type of project attitude. We cannot afford to have hesitation from this perspective. The evolutions are very fast, some even dangerous (…) Romania ”.
Regarding the designation of the heads of secret services, Diaconescu said that the coalition parties, who will have to vote in the Parliament, must show responsibility, at an “open crisis”, referring to the security situation near the borders of Romania.
The appointment of the heads of services, “a moment of responsibility”
Secret services did not get enough involved in the issue of cancellation of the December 2024 elections, says Nicușor Dan
“It will be a very serious moment of responsibility. I wish that there is such an understanding in the political area, we must look at such a appointment because the heads of these institutions must have a very high external credibility. Otherwise, they will have a delayed start from this regard,” said Diaconescu.
According to the law, the President of Romania must present the national security strategy of the country within 6 months from taking the oath. Cristian Diaconescu stated that, until August 1, the Presidential Administration will gather the proposals made by the institutions with competences in the field.
“Then we will make a public consultation. It seems normal to us to have a dialogue with all (…) I see many people with interesting, constructive positions and I promise we will create the necessary framework to be listened to,” said Diaconescu.
He mentioned that a priority will be the Security at the Black Sea, already having two strategies in this area, one adopted by the Conngress of the United States, another by the European Union. Diaconescu said that concrete actions to implement them are needed, actions that Romania must undertake in common with the other riparian countries, NATO members: Bulgaria and Turkey.
“Any kind of threat must be recognized and we will have to come up with answers for the next five years,” said Cristian Diaconescu.
