Ulyanov day
On this day, the Orthodox Church is honored by the memory of the holy martyr, Julian of Tarsiysky.
The Russian people folded sayings about Ulyana (Julian) and about the unrealizable meeting that was remembered on this day: “Ulyana calls Ulyana, and Ulyan calls Ulyana”; “Ulyan Ulyana will not look into the face.” They told the legend: “In ancient times, Ulyang walked through meadows and fields, called his Ulyana, and Ulyana sat on the river bank, looking at the running water. Only in the evening she came to her senses, ran to the meadow – and Ulyan had already gone to the river with another tropin. They never met Ulyan with Ulyana.”
