In Krasnoyarsk, police are investigating another remote fraud, the victim of which was a 63-year-old resident who lost his savings and car.

The deception began with a call from an unknown person: the attacker introduced himself as an employee of the management company and told the victim that a massive replacement of intercoms with new models was planned in his house. To get the key and get into the electronic queue, the Krasnoyarsk resident was asked to dictate the code received in SMS, which he did.

“Immediately after this, events began to develop according to the classic scenario of psychological pressure. The man received a call allegedly from Rosfinmonitoring and law enforcement agencies. The interlocutors said that his personal account at State Services was hacked due to the transmitted code, and now the attackers are trying to transfer his money to the accounts of prohibited organizations. To avoid accusations of financing extremism and save capital, the man was strongly recommended to transfer all funds to a “safe account.” Believing the scammers, the victim transferred 600 thousand rubles from his personal savings. However, the criminals did not stop there: they convinced the Krasnoyarsk resident that his property was also under threat. As a result, he sold the car as soon as possible, and also sent the proceeds 1 million 300 thousand rubles to the accounts of the scammers. The total damage amounted to 1.9 million rubles,” said the Krasnoyarsk Ministry of Internal Affairs.

In connection with this, a criminal case has been initiated under Part 4 of Art. 159 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (Fraud on an especially large scale), all the circumstances of the crime committed are established.
