Saharian dust reaches over Romania again. Which areas will be affected

A new wave of Saharian dust will cross Romania these days. Against the background of forecast rains, the phenomenon could be more visible than in other periods.

The National Meteorological Administration (ANM) warns that, between 25 and 27, an air mass loaded with Saharan dust particles will reach above Romania, in the context of atmospheric circulation from the south and south-east.

The phenomenon will especially affect Dobrogea and east of Moldova, where dust deposits can be observed in the intervals in which rain will be recorded.

According to meteorologists, the dust cloud comes from northern Africa and is transported to southeast Europe, temporarily influencing the air quality and atmospheric visibility in the affected regions.

The detailed data on the phenomenon can be consulted on the website of the Copernicus atmosphere monitoring service. ANM mentions that messages will be updated according to the evolution and intensity of atmospheric phenomena.
Heavy rains, strong wind and accentuated cooling
On Sunday, the meteorologists from ANM have issued new warnings of yellow and orange code, which aim to severe phenomena in almost half of the territory of Romania.
The orange code, valid until Tuesday, May 28, at 10:00, was extended to other nine counties, besides those already under warning – Vrancea, Galați, Vaslui and Bacău. Important amounts of precipitation, sustained wind intensifications and a marked cooling of the weather are forecast.
In the targeted areas, the local will accumulate between 50 and 70 l/sqm, and isolated even over 80 l/sqm, while in other counties in Muntenia, Dobrogea, Moldova and Southeast Transylvania, the quantities of water will reach 30-50 l/sqm.
