Couriers with vocations for war. Refusal to accept is a prison sentence

In the face of the growing geopolitical tension, Poland takes steps to strengthen national security. The Ministry of National Defense has published a new regulation regarding the procedures for delivering vocation cards in the case of mobilization and war. The document, which appeared on January 30 in the Journal of Laws, describes in detail how the head of the village heads, mayors, city presidents and other institutions will be responsible for the implementation of this task – writes portalsmorzadowy.pl.
Pursuant to the new provisions of the Card for Military Service, issued by the heads of military recruitment centers, they will be served by:
– Wójtów,
– mayors,
– city presidents.
Importantly, the village heads, mayors and city presidents can order the transfer of vocation cards directly:
– military units,
– Poczta Polska
– Police.
These institutions will carry out the task on their own, using their resources.
Calling for war. Special courier
Vocational cards can also be served in courier action mode. “The head of the village, mayor or city president to the function of couriers of contractors and couriers of connectors first allocates persons who are employees of the City Hall or the Commune Office” – we read in the regulation.
Delivery will take place with confirmation of receipt. In the absence of the addressee, information about the attempt to deliver the document will be placed in the mailbox, on the door of the apartment or in a visible place at the entrance to the property.
Polish Post Office with a key role during mobilization
The regulation also specifies the role of Poczta Polska in the case of mobilization. Postal offices will be required to provide urgent vocations. The documents received by 8 am are to be delivered until 3pm of the same day, and those transferred later – at the latest until midnight. Vocational cards will have priority over other shipments.
Calling to the army during mobilization. Harsh penalties for evading the obligation
What are the consequences of evading military service during mobilization or war? Pursuant to the Act on the defense of the homeland:
– for failure to submit to service within the prescribed period there is a penalty of imprisonment for a period of not less than three years;
– For permanent evasion of military service, punishment increases to a minimum of five years in prison.
Why now?
The war in Ukraine and the aggressive policy of Russia changed the landscape of international security. Poland, as a country bordering the conflict region, intensifies activities aimed at preparing for various scenarios. Strengthening the military potential and developing clear procedures in case of crisis are key elements of this strategy.
Although everyone hopes that mobilization will never be necessary, the rulers emphasize that their duty is to prepare the country for any eventuality.
