In the Krasnoyarsk Territory, more than 4.2 billion rubles are allocated for the protection of forests from fires from the federal and regional budgets. The day before, the region's governor, Mikhail Kotyukov, reported to the Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation, Dmitry Patrushev, about the region's readiness for the new fire season.
Mikhail Kotyukov noted that last year the area covered by fire in forests decreased by more than 40%. The governor thanked the employees of the Ministry of Emergency Situations, Rosleskhoz, as well as representatives of the forest fire brigades of the region.
“Thank you for your support in expanding the infrastructure: an aerial forest protection base was formed in the Turukhansky District – the area of forests that we are actively protecting has increased by 7.6 million hectares,” noted Mikhail Kotyukov.
In 2026, the total grouping of forest fire forces will be 1,891 people: 978 of them are ground service employees and 913 forest special forces soldiers. At the moment, the staff of the regional Forest Fire Center is 74% staffed. It is expected that by the end of March the personnel issue will be completely resolved. Education and training of forest firefighters has already begun.
52 aircraft and more than 700 units of special equipment will assist the specialists. Last year, the Forest Fire Center received 21 vehicles and more than 1.6 thousand pieces of equipment and communications. In 2026, it is planned to purchase 11 more cars. Forest fire units are also equipped with 47 quadcopters. This fleet will soon expand by another 34 units; the equipment was purchased as part of the national project “Unmanned Aircraft Systems”. Such equipment allows you to monitor the situation and detect fires in hard-to-reach areas.
To quickly detect and extinguish landscape fires, local governments create patrol, patrol-maneuver and maneuver groups, which have proven their effectiveness in previous seasons.
The regional budget includes 200 million rubles for the provision of primary fire safety measures in the territories – for the development of voluntary fire protection.
Command and staff exercises are planned for mid-March with the management bodies and forces of the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations and the unified state system for preventing and responding to emergency situations.
