According to an investigation conducted by the Daily Mail daily and based on archival documents from Germany, The grandfather of the future boss of Mi6 was the Nazi spy of Konstanty Dobrowolski, known as “Butcher” or “Agent No. 30”. After the German attack on the USSR, the Ukrainian was to desert from the Red Army and become the main informant of the Nazis in Czernihów.

As Daily Mail wrote, Dobrowolski was to brag about his German commanders that he personally took part in the extermination of Jews on the Eastern Front and plundered the bodies of the victims of the Holocaust. He signed his correspondence with the words “Heil Hitler”.

As a result of Hitler's losing war from the USSR, Dobrowolski was to escape the German troops to the West. However, his wife and her son Konstantine Junior escaped to Great Britain, where she got married again – for David Metrewelli, born in Georgia.

Dobrowolski's son later took the surname of stepfather and became a radiologist, a veteran of the British armed forces.

Metrewela “did not know or meet her grandfather on the side of her father,” reacted by the British media resort, which is subject to Mi6. A spokesman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs added that “marked with conflicts and divisions” the origin of the future intelligence bosses – “this is a common phenomenon for people of Eastern European origin.”

“It is very important that this story was published by the British media before Russian propaganda went crazy,” said former Georgian ambassador to London Giorgi Badriga quoted by the Daily Mail.

In June, it was announced that the 47-year-old Metrewela, who had previously performed operational functions in the Middle East and Europe, would be the first woman at the head of British intelligence in its over 100 years of history.

The Mi6 mission is to collect intelligence abroad to improve the safety of Great Britain. The agency's main goals are: stopping terrorism, disturbing the activities of hostile countries and strengthening cybersecurity. (PAP)
