The Secretary General of the PSD, Paul Stănescu, argues that he will not be the next president of the Court of Accounts, a position that Mihai Busuioc has left free to become, at the proposal of the Social Democrats, judge of the Constitutional Court (CCR).
“I remain with the party and people. The Court of Accounts is not my path. My priority is to prepare the generation that comes – one of serious people, with consciousness, well trained and respect for political work and for Romanians. In the last days, all kinds of speculation appeared about a possible departure of my court. Stanescu, quoted on Saturday night in a post on the PSD Facebook page.
After the departure of Mihai Busuioc to the CCR, Stănescu's name was conveyed for the remaining vacant position at the Court of Accounts.
“I feel and believe with all the responsibility that we have to bend more and more on the future. The young generation that comes must be made up of serious people. Well trained people, who understand what political work means and who have respect for those they represent. There is a place of superficiality, there is no place of adventure in politics. them ”, continued Paul Stanescu.
The Secretary General of the PSD believes that “the advice of the experienced ones remains essential”.
“It is the balance anchor. It does not mean to control, it means to be close, to guide and to argue when it is needed. I do not leave, but I know the time will come, naturally, a step behind. Not from weakness, but out of respect for the future and for those who have to carry on our work,” Paul Stănescu said.
Mihai Busuioc was leading the Court of Accounts from 2017, but on Tuesday he was voted by the Senate, at the PSD proposal, as judge of the RCC.
His appointment is challenged on the grounds that he does not have the 18 years of the legal experience he has passed in the CV and which represents the minimum legal requirement to fill this position. Augustin Zegrean, former president of the RCC and former member of the Constitution's drafting commission, told Hotnews that “it is the first time that a person who does not meet the conditions is appointed.”
The leader of the senators SOS Romania, Nadia Cerva, challenged the appointment to the Constitutional Court. Its notification will be judged on July 1.
