Thousands of French soldiers come to Romania for military maneuvers. What does the exercise “Dacian Fall 2025” mean
The Ministry of Defense announces for the next period military technique trips, 2400 French soldiers who will participate in the “Dacian Fall 2025” exercise will enter the country, until September 30, on the border points in Giurgiu and Vama Veche, informs News.ro.

An exercise with forces from 10 countries
The ministry specifies that the exercise will be carried out in the training polygons in Cincu, Smârdan, Capu Midia, Babadag, Bogata, Alba Iulia, Hanu Conachi, Giarmata, Cârţişoara.
“The exercise takes place between October 20 and November 13. 5,000 soldiers will be involved with 1,200 technical means from ten allied states-Belgium, Bulgaria, France, Italy, Luxembourg, Northern Macedonia, Poland, Portugal, Romania and Spain. The training sequences will take place on the territory of Romania and Bulgaria,” MApN mentions.
The Minister of Defense, Ionuț Mosteanu, said on September 19, at Digi 24, and said that they will be involved “allies from several countries”, and France, the country leading the NATO combat group, “will make a considerable effort in this exercise.”
The minister said that the exercise is of NATO, not Romania, and will imply “a dislocation of significant forces from the Allies”.
“There will be about 5,000 soldiers and 800-900 mechanized means to come to Romania. The travel from NATO allies to Romania, practically, started and, on October, this exercise will start, until November 13, will be in several polygons and units in Romania. They will be allied from several countries. Fighting from Cincu, even yesterday I was there.
He said that the exercise will be carried out “throughout the country”. “There are several polygons. The biggest are Cincu and Smârdan, but they will be in Capu Midia, in Babadag and in other polygons,” added the Minister of Defense.
“We are preparing with the Allies (…) to be able to answer faster”
Asked how we show that we are prepared in the face of Russia's challenges, the Minister of Defense pointed out that we, unlike the Ukrainians, “are not in war.”
“First I want to make a very clear distinction between war and peace. The Ukrainians are in the war and have a war industry, and all the decisions that are now made in Ukraine are war decisions, they must defend aggressions that every day kills their parents and children. He will not see it to us and it would not be wise ”, continued Ionuț Moșteanu.
He warned that challenges from Russia “have been, are and will certainly be further.”
“What we do is train with the Allies, to prepare ourselves with the Allies (…) to be able to answer faster, clearer, firmer,” said Ionuț Moșteanu.
