Representatives of the new generation of IT specialists more want to create convenient user interfaces and manage teams than to do classical development.

This conclusion was reached by IT Holding T1 based on the results of the study* at the Festival “Technology Day” at the Artek International Children's Center. The survey was attended by about 400 students.

The study took place at the festival in honor of the 100th anniversary of Artek. A career guidance test revealed that 22 % of the children most clearly showed talents in the field of UX/UI design. The role of Timlid (18 %) was in second place, the third place was divided by the “analyst” and “developer” (12 %each specialty), and in the fourth – the profession of a tester (9 %). The remaining 27 % of participants did not show a high tendency to any specific role.

The analysis of the data revealed another important trend: the new generation of IT specialists is universals. Most guys found moderate potential in several areas at once. For example, 278 out of 378 participants (73 %) showed the average level of tendency tendency, and 260 (69 %) – to develop, which indicates a wide range of competencies and flexibility of thinking.

“The results of the survey at Artek showed that the tendencies for creativity and management among future IT specialists come to the fore. Therefore, it is important to shift the focus from the preparation of exclusively technical artists for the development of leaders with interdisciplinary skills. The general task of IT companies and universities is to create an environment in which these talents will be able to open as much as possible, ”said Ekaterina Kolesnikova, deputy general director of the T1 IT HR IT HR.

At the Festival “Technology Day” at Artek, the T1 IT Holding Stand visited more than 900 children. In addition to career guidance test, the guys participated in a business game, where they could feel like entrepreneurs and generate ideas for IT startups. For the younger audience-10-12 years-T1 experts conducted a lecture on the basics of cybersecurity, where in an accessible form they told how to create reliable passwords and recognize scammers.

*The career guidance test took place in the format of an interactive chatbot: participants needed to introduce themselves to the employees of the IT company and choose statements from 20 pairs most appropriate to their views. Based on the answers, the system charged points for five key IT rolls (“developer”, “analyst”, “tester”, “designer” and “Timlid”), determining the strengths and predisposition of a student to a particular activity. The level of tendency for each role was determined by the scale: 6-8 points-high, 3-5-medium, 0-2-low. One participant could show different levels of talent in several areas at once. The total number of participants in the career guidance test is 378 children.
