“We live in parallel realities and, looking at other countries, not only we live from an informational perspective in different bubbles, but even we get married in our information bubbles, we have friends from our information bubbles. We have practically realities that compete, but that do not communicate with each other,” says Robert Santa, Robet Santa.

In the past, says the researcher, this was not so important. “” In the past you had much more natural affinities, so to speak. For example, the working class population voted with left -wing parties. Economically, those who were from the city were more voting with liberal parties. There were some predictive political cleavages. Unfortunately, the social cleavage that the interim president has no one. The segregation of the information space ”, believes Santa.

These cleavages are very difficult to repair until we rebuild a common information space for the entire population. “And at the moment it is very difficult to do this,” he explains.

Ideological differences between young women and young men accentuate

The ideal solution suggested by the Romanian researcher would be a discussion with Tech platforms for a change of algorithms to allow access to information from various areas. “At this moment, if, for example, you are from the urban area of White Collar, you probably receive information from the other bubbles, rather in the form of memes or jokes or to ironize them. But you do not have a communication between bubbles, concerns, ideas. You do not have a debate in society 0-which exist in the past Points.

He also noticed a detail manifested fully in other countries but which was not carefully measured. “Among the Z generation, among young people up to 30 years old, we see an ideological differentiation between young women and young men. We have seen this in the US elections, but we see many topics. Young men tend to be conservative, sometimes more conservative than those in the previous generation. Of problematic, because it leads to the difficulty of the formation of families ”, warns the expert.

The young women in the US tend to favor democratic candidates and policies, with a strong emphasis on problems such as gender equality, abortion rights and environmental concerns. Instead, young people are more divided or inclined towards Republican candidates.

But, as Robert Santa said, in Romania we have no such measurements to be able to draw a trend.
