Not just weeds, but salvation: it will protect the crop of pumpkin better than any drugs

When in June the pumpkin lets outlets in the garden, the hands are drawn to pull off all the superfluous. Especially the swan, which is considered weed and removed without looking. But do not rush. This simple grass can be unexpectedly useful.

Survival Protection

Young pumpkins do not tolerate overheating. Their roots lie shallow, and a strong sun can slow down development. Swan bushes next to the plant create a shadow, natural and soft. The foliage covers the ground, preventing it from drying out, which means that moisture remains longer in the soil, the roots do not overheat, and the plant feels calmer.

Less watering – less worries

If there is heat, and often there is no way to water, the shadow protection from the swan becomes a real find. The soil under it remains cool, and the pumpkin does not have to fight for survival. It saves both water and your efforts.

Natural barrier for other weeds

Swan quickly gives thick foliage. This prevents other, more aggressive weeds to break through to the light. In this way, it not only retains moisture, but also protects the bed from the capture of unnecessary vegetation. While it is controlled, it works for you.

It is important not to miss the moment

Adhere to important rules. The growth of swans cannot be allowed by itself. Do not let the weed develop. Pinch the tops regularly, support them within 30–40 cm. If you begin to take the light from the pumpkin itself, then immediately tear out. Flowering is also unacceptable, as it selects forces from the soil and can give undesirable seeds.

When the pumpkin whips close, creating their own shadow, the need for a swan disappears. Then it can be completely removed.

Lebed is not just a weed, but temporary protection, if you use it wisely. At the right time, she will play the role of live mulch: free, effective and without unnecessary trouble. This is the case when nature itself offers help. You just need not to interfere with her.
