Binyamin Netanyahu will come to Hungary. He is not threatened with repression there

The Times of Israel recalled that “Netanyahu is a close ally of Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban, who welcomed him with great fanfare last April.”
In November 2024, the International Criminal Court (ICC) issued arrest warrants for the Prime Minister of Israel and the then Minister of Defense in his government, Joav Galant. Both were charged with war crimes and crimes against humanity in connection with the war in the Gaza Strip.

The Israeli Prime Minister then arrived in April 2025 on a visit to Hungary. In July, the ICC found that Hungary had failed to meet its obligations by refusing to detain him. “Following Netanyahu's arrival in Hungary, the ICC formally requested his pre-trial detention, but the Hungarian authorities took no action,” the ICC said in a statement.
In May, the Hungarian Parliament adopted a law initiating the process of the country's withdrawal from the ICC. Budapest, in accordance with the Court's rules, will remain a party to it until June 2026.
CPAC is an annual conference held in the USA, which has been attended by conservative activists from all over the country since the 1970s. In recent years, it has been dominated by Trump supporters. Meetings are also held in other countries, including – already four times – in Hungary.
This year's event will take place just three weeks before the parliamentary elections. Independent polls currently give the advantage to Peter Magyar's opposition TISHA party. Prime Minister Orban's ruling Fidesz is in most polls a few percent behind this group.
