Exemptions, which are to end by September 30, 2026, assume a reduction in employment in two stages: up to 1041 people in 2025 and up to 1388 people a year later. Tomasz Pietrek, a representative of PKP Cargo employees in the company's supervisory board, said that Implemented changes in the release regulations will protect particularly sensitive social groups. Izabela Skonieczna-Płoka, the manager of the company's sanation mass, emphasized that the planned plan presented is the darkest scenario. During the Monday meeting of the Management Board with representatives of trade unions, not only the principles of conducting group layoffs were discussed, but also about the possibility of limiting them by suspending some provisions of the company's collective work.
– We asked if it would only apply to any selected professional groups – it turned out that all employees of the company – said Tomasz Pietrek.
PKP Cargo informs for the second time during the year about the intention to carry out exemptions. In July last year, the company's management board decided to carry out group layoffs by the company's plants and headquarters. The effect of this process was to reduce employment by 3665 employees.
In July 2024, the court opened the restructuring proceedings of PKP Cargo. Earlier, the management of PKP Cargo decided to carry out group layoffs, covering up to 30 percent. employed. The company reported that the restructuring plan will be presented in June this year. Currently, PKP Cargo employs approx. 10,000 people.
