IKEA opens its own second-hand shop. Lots of used furniture for sale

Second-hand IKEA is a platform where customers can put up for sale and buy used IKEA products. All they need to do is add a description, photos and pickup details, and the ad will be supplemented with specifications that will be automatically downloaded from the database. Sellers can choose from two forms of payment of earned funds: bank transfer or IKEA e-refund card with 5%. discount on your next online purchases.

Second-hand IKEA is currently in the testing phase. Currently, only members of the Ikea Family program can use it.

They will give a second life to furniture

The new venture is part of the company's activities towards a circular economy. They were prepared by Ingka Group, which owns IKEA.

– With the launch of the Second-hand IKEA Platform in Poland, we are taking a significant step towards making IKEA products available even more affordable, while enabling customers to easily extend the life of their furniture. Our ambition is to encourage them to give their furniture a second life, in an easy and accessible way – says Kirsten Andersson, Managing Director for Platform & Marketplaces, Ingka Group.

Easier contacts between customers

According to network representatives, Second-hand IKEA is a response to the needs of customers who have previously exchanged furniture of this brand in various groups on social media..

– Thanks to our platform, they can do it in a simple and safe way – says Małgorzata Bochenek, Business Development and Digital Director of IKEA Retail in Poland. – For the first time in history, IKEA is entering the marketplace model, opening itself to a completely new way of working with customers and creating value with them – he adds.

Polish Secend-hand IKEA is not the first such solution launched by the company. Similar platforms are also already in operation in Spain, Norway and Portugal.
