A man from Sibiu has donated a record number of blood in the last 25 years: “I said to do good, to save lives”

The message of the most active donor of the Sibiu Transfusion Center, a 46 -year -old man, was published on Saturday, on the occasion of the World Day of Blood Donor, by DSP Sibiu.

This is Petru Fehervari, a 46 -year -old man from Sibiu, who is a volunteer donor of the Sibiu Blood Transfusion Center since 1999. In the last 25 years, he has donated 136 times, which means, according to calculations that take into account the standard donation, 54.4 liters of blood, according to the public health (DSP).

“I said to do good, to save lives, for this I chose to donate. I know how important it is to be available when needed. I always donated, they also called me when it was needed. I feel fulfilled, I feel it is important to help. the man.

DSP Sibiu published statistics on Saturday showing that in the county of Sibiu, over 8 thousand people donated blood. The amount of blood harvested from a single donor varies between 200 milliliters (for platelets by affect) and 400 milliliters in case of standard donation.

A blood bag can save up to three lives. In one year, a man can donate at most five times, and a woman maximum four times.

Today, June 14, on the World Day of the Blood Donator, at the Sibiu transfusion center there is a large donation campaign.

In addition to the health benefits offered by blood donation, donors also benefit from material support consisting of 280 lei vouchers for each donation, cards that can be used later for food purchase.
