The technological revolution cannot be ignored, Cezar Diaconu – Country Manager Hitachi Vantara Romania & Moldova

How do you see the technological evolution, in the current context?

Companies invest in the adoption of technologies suitable for their business. In a multitude of products and technological solutions there are differentiating approaches.

Hitachi is a technology company with a tradition of over 115 years and a very clear mission: to improve people's lives through technology. Every important decision is analyzed through the prism of values taken from the founder of Hitachi, Namihei Odaira: Wow (harmony), Makoto (sincerity) and Kaitakusha-seishin (innovative spirit).

Does the influence of Japanese culture impact your local business decisions?

Yes, it is one of our differentiators, and customers and partners feel it to the full. We are the eighth technology company in the world by turnover, listed on the stock exchange since the 40s, obviously guided by the speed of today's business, but which attaches great importance to long-term collaboration with customers and business partners, by implementing the above values.

We are present in over 90 countries, with 150 factories and over 400,000 employees. In Romania, this year we exceeded the local milestone of 2,000 employees, thus entering the top 100 companies from this point of view. We achieved this performance through the sustained growth of the business, but also through local and global acquisitions, such as the local software company Fortech, but also a part of the giant Thales, with an important presence in the railway technology industry in Romania.

Hitachi's local structure is represented by Hitachi Vantara, a leader in IT&C infrastructure, software and services dedicated to data management and security; Global Logic, which provides digital engineering services; Hitachi Energy, a technology leader for the energy industry; and Hitachi Rail, provider of rail mobility technology.

Through the synergy of these business lines, we manage to bring another local differentiator, making available to corporate clients, but also to those in research, production, engineering and retail, a wide area of expertise for complex projects.

How do Hitachi investments in Romania support the growth of local teams and the development of technological projects in the country?

Hitachi continues to invest in Romania by adding teams and accelerating local production, with Romania playing an important role for the group's investments in the region. At the same time, we are supplementing our efforts in education and will bring technology leaders and their teams from Hitachi to Bucharest, to support educational sessions for students.

Hitachi Vantara provides technologies for important customers in Romania. How do you see their adoption of AI?

We are very happy to see their interest, both from the private and public environment. This interest also comes as a result of our sustained efforts for many years in presenting technologies that underlie this transition to AI.

About 20 years ago we launched the platform The crowdwhich was based on a Data Lakehouse implemented on the best performing storage at that time, unique by providing a 100% Data Availability rate, on which we ran technologies such as Machine Learning (ML), Deep Learning (DL), Natural Language Processing (NLP), Computer Vision and, finally, Robotics, with which we provided equipment that had the opportunity to interact with the physical world based on the processed data.

Now, through launch of AI Factorytogether with those from NVIDIA, we are close to our customers and partners on the way to optimizing operations through AI, with the help of models developed for many applications in business, but also with the help of the necessary hardware infrastructure.

For Hitachi, it is very important in this race towards AI adoption that we follow company values and invest further in our solutions to achieve the required performance in the most environmentally efficient way possible.

Hitachi Energy, as a supplier of Power and Cooling for Hyperscalers, estimates the tripling of electricity consumption for Data Centers by 2030. Thus, Hitachi Vantara launched the new range of data storage equipment VSP ONEwhich comes with the most efficient IOPS/W ratio in the world.

The same equipment manages to deliver the best performance in the industry and innovate through scalability, easy integration into heterogeneous infrastructures – all with the same legendary resilience we have been used to for over 20 years, still being unique by providing the certainty of 100% Data Availability.
