US Army Apache attack helicopter that crashed near the Strait of Hormuz

A US Army Apache attack helicopter crashed on Monday near the Strait of Hormuz, two people with knowledge of the incident told The New York Times, Reuters reports.

The two crew members were rescued, according to the American newspaper.

It is not clear whether the Apache helicopter was shot down by Iranian forces, suffered a mechanical failure or encountered another problem, the NYT also writes.

The Reuters agency stated that it could not immediately verify the information.
