The governor of the US state of California, Gavin Newsom, has filed an emergency request at a federal court on Tuesday to prevent the Trump administration from using the National Guard and Marine prisoners in the rays aimed at immigrants in Los Angeles, according to the AP.

The governor's initiative comes after the decision of US President Donald Trump to carry out around 4,000 members of the National Guard and 700 Marine prisoners in Los Angeles in the context of violence against the measures that the administration against suspected immigrants took in the country.

In the request of the governor it is mentioned that the approach comes in response to the change of order at the level of the National Guard.

A statement by Paul Eck, deputy general counselor in the California Military Department, was also filed. Eck said the department was informed that the Pentagon intends to order the California National Guard to start providing support for operations targeting immigrants. This support would include the security of perimeters in the areas where raids take place, as well as securing the streets for the agents of the resort authorities.

Initially, the guard members had been held in Los Angeles to protect the federal buildings. It is unclear whether the change of mission has begun to materialize.

Also on Tuesday, the commander of the Body of Marini prison said they were not asked to intervene in protests and that they are there just to protect federal properties and officials.

General Eric Smith explained that they have the necessary training for the crowd control, but do not have the authority to make arrests.

What Donald Trump said of the Insury Law

Donald Trump has not excluded the possibility of invoking the law of insurrection, which authorizes him to carry out military forces inside the US to suppress internal rebellions or violence, but also to implement the law in certain situations. It is one of the most extreme emergency powers that the US president has.

“If an insurrection takes place, I will certainly invoke it. We will see,” the American leader said on Tuesday in the Oval Office.

In the Los Angeles area there have been violent protests in recent days, in response to the measures of the authorities against suspected immigrants to be illegally in the country.

The military and federal law enforcement operations have deepened the divisions between the two major American political parties, in the conditions in which Trump, Republican, threatened to arrest the Democratic Governor of California, Gavin Newsom, because he opposed the federal media measures.

The state of California sued the Trump administration on Monday to block the development of the National Guard and Marine prisons, claiming that the measure violates the federal law and its autonomy.
